CEDARHURST, NY — A Queens man has been arrested after police said he stole a backpack filled with items and cash from a home in Cedarhurst.
Robert Bascom, 59, of Nameoke Street in Far Rockaway, entered a West Broadway home early Tuesday, swiped a backpack and fled before authorities arrived.
Investigators gathered a description of the suspect and spotted Bascom around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, walking near Central Avenue and Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence. He was arrested and faces charges of second-degree burglary and petit larceny.
Bascom was scheduled to appear in Hempstead district court Wednesday.
