CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bags will not be allowed at any athletic events for Iredell-Statesville Schools starting this week, officials announced.
The no-bag policy applies to purses, totes, diaper bags and backpacks. Anyone who tries to bring a bag to a sporting event will be denied entry until they return it to their vehicle. School administrators will assist students who are participating in events immediately after school.
Iredell-Statesville district schools include Lake Norman High School, North Iredell High School, South Iredell High School, Statesville High School and West Iredell High School.
The new policy comes a little over a year after a football game at Statesville High School was postponed by multiple arrests and threats of violence. All fan are encouraged to read the district's code of conduct before attending any on-campus events.
