SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Supervisor Luis Alejo, Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig and Community Human Services are teaming up ahead of the holidays again this year for the Annual Holiday Open House & Homeless Children Winter Clothing & Backpack Drive in Salinas.
They announced last week that they'll be raising donations for homeless children who participate in the city's SHARE Homeless Navigation Center. They will be providing each child with a backpack, school supplies and a gift card.
The leaders are asking for new and unwrapped items like backpacks, gloves, jackets, sweaters, scarves, beanies, socks, school supplies and/or gift cards for the children.
Donations will be accepted through December 18. Drop-off centers are located at the office of Supervisor Luis Alejo on 168 W. Alisal Street, 2nd floor, in Salinas, as well as the office of Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig at City Hall (200 Lincoln Street in Salinas).
There will also be an open house on December 11 from 5 until 7 p.m. that Alejo and Craig encourage attendees to bring donations to.
