Aug 03, 2023Govindan brushes away allegations of ‘rift’ in CPM over ‘trolley bag’, palakkad byelection, palakkad raid, blue trolley bag, black money, congress leaders, mv govindan
The news reports suggesting rift in cpm in connection with too much focus of blue trolley bags are not true, says cpm state secretary MV Govindan
Palakkad: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan has dismissed claims of a rift within the party over the controversy surrounding the 'blue trolley bag' that has become a topic of debate in the byelection. In response to news reports suggesting differing opinions within the CPM leadership on how to handle the issue, Govindan said on Saturday that such reports do not reflect the party's official stance.
"CPM is not a party that goes after bags, whether it is blue or yellow. However, we acknowledge that the issues related to the bag have naturally come up for discussion in the political sphere. This is an important issue in this election. A proper investigation should be conducted regarding the trolley bag. The public has understood that the Congress's claim of the bag containing dresses is incorrect. Whether the bag is blue or black, it is an issue worth discussing during the election, so that the focus of the political debate is not lost. We will raise many such issues along with this controversy during the byelection period," Govindan said.

"We don't want to focus solely on the trolley bag. The bag appeared suddenly, and we will also highlight the political manoeuvring behind it," he added. "The LDF has not made any mistakes in this matter. People have understood the full story, even without concrete evidence. For us, this is not a closed chapter."
"The issue is important, but we won't get distracted by the trolley bag. This will work in our favor, and we are confident of a big victory against Rahul Mamkoottathil," Govindan said.
Spotlight on Palakkad
"All eyes are on Palakkad now, and a neck-and-neck race is underway here. Whatever the circumstances, Rahul will not receive the votes that were cast in favor of E. Sreedharan in the last assembly election. Under no circumstances will the BJP win in Palakkad too. Rahul will also fail to get the votes that were cast in favour of Shafi Parambil. A strong sentiment is prevailing among the people of Palakkad, and these factors will influence the election outcome."
On Friday, CPM State Committee member and former Palakkad MLA NN Krishnadas publicly criticized certain party leaders, suggesting that the focus of the political debate should not be on the 'blue and yellow trolley bags' but on real political issues affecting the constituency. Critics of the CPM pointed out that Krishnadas was unhappy with the functioning of CPM District Secretary EN Suresh Babu and LSGD Minister MB Rajesh.
