Aug 03, 2023Free Fishing Days and kids fishing derby this weekend
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has announced two free fishing days this weekend.
On Sunday and Saturday, you will not need a fishing or trout/salmon license to fish the state's public waters.
The DNR clarifies that all other rules such as seasons, bag, and size limits apply.
Officials say these free fishing days are an excellent opportunity to learn how to fish, take your family fishing, or introduce a friend to fishing.
Also on Saturday, Monroe Lake is hosting a Fishing Derby for kids ages 16 and under.
This free event will provide bait and equipment if needed.
New and beginning anglers are welcome and volunteer instructors will be on hand to teach and assist as needed.
The event starts at 9 am and officials ask you to check in no later than 10 am.
